Award-Winning Food Plants & a Goldfish Cracker Named Finn
Kelley Rodriguez, Editor-In-Chief of Refrigerated & Frozen Foods
The May issue of R&FF promises to be one of our most popular pieces of content this year and sets the stage for a 60-minute webinar next month.
Before I get to may, I’ve got the scoop on the 2025 Food Automation & Manufacturing Symposium and Expo. The FA&M agenda was packed with seven educational sessions from some of the top names in food manufacturing, including award winners Carolina Foods and Cafe Spice.
The Campbell’s Company received an honorary mention for their Utah Goldfish cracker plant – which, by the way, is modeled after the Pieces zodiac symbol and named Finn!

Learn more about what stood out and surprised even the seasoned pros at the 26th annual FA&M in our post-show wrap up. And, you can even listen to and/or watch portions from each presentation in the FA&M Rewind podcast.
The May cover story is the annual ranking of the top 150 frozen foods processors and top 25 refrigerated foods processors. It also is a snapshot into the state of the industry, what is going right and where the opportunities exist for innovation in product development, manufacturing methods or cold chain logistics.
It is useful information for anyone involved in the cold foods space!
For more on the state of the cold chain, I invite you to register and attend our June 17 webinar, featuring Sally Lyons Wyatt, global EVP and chief advisor at Circana and Alison Bodor, president and CEO of the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI).
The Cold Chain Ops column focuses on fire safety in cold storage environments, the unique challenges these facilities face and new ways technology and PBD (performance based design) are changing the way the industry thinks about fire protection in temperature-controlled spaces.
The feature story this month looks at supply chain optimization and how it can help manufacturers make the most out of their operational efficiency, ease inventory challenges and ensure product quality.
Other highlights include a look at some of the latest new retail products in the dairy aisle, just in time for June Dairy Month.
As always, thank you for reading, listening, watching and following R&FF.
