Congratulations to our annual Best Retail Products Contest winners!

These three cold products were voted among the best new refrigerated & frozen foods of 2024:

  • First place: Good Foods Group Dairy Free Nacho Cheeze Dip
This new offering has helped Good Foods push the refrigerated dips category by creating something not only delicious but also championing inclusivity — its formula meets a variety of dietary needs, redefining dips that everyone can enjoy.
  • Second place: New York Bakery Gluten-Free Texas Toast This innovation removes the long-standing trade-off between gluten-free and flavor, making it a game-changer in the frozen aisle.
  • Third place: Greenridge Naturals Grass-Fed Beef Refrigerated Snack Sticks
The newly formatted 1-ounce snack sticks are a unique introduction in the refrigerated meat snacking category, as shelf-stable sticks dominate the meat snacking sector.

Other highlights in the July issue include a feature on the state of cold storage infrastructure and development and a Cold Chain Perspectives column showing four ways automation is being implemented by cold foods processors and manufacturers to cut costs and increase throughput.

You scream, I scream, we all scream congratulations to Tillamook on its first owned-and-operated manufacturing site outside of Oregon and first dedicated solely to ice cream production. Read more about the 116-year-old county co-op’s eastward expansion in our feature story. A big thanks to the TCCA for allowing R&FF to be among the first to tour the new facility (and for the ice cream for breakfast!)

Plus, in honor of National Ice Cream month, our new cold retail roundup focuses on the frozen novelty and ice cream category.
